About

Hi, y’all thanks for stopping by! My name is Shelly, a 20-something, born and raised in Texas and currently reside in Austin!

I caught the travel bug at a young age thanks to my parents. At three months old, my mom took me on my first trip to Mexico City and have gone back to visit family in Mexico almost every other year. I also was fortunate enough to study abroad the fall semester of 2013 in Paris, France. I spent 4 magical months in the city of lights, and nothing has been the same ever since. During my time abroad, I was also to able spend a week in Morocco and take weekend trips to both Germany and Ireland. Through my travels, I have been able to expand my cross-cultural competence, visit world-renowned landmarks and museums, eat superb food, and make some of the most rewarding friendships with those I met along my journey. In most recent years, I’ve taken a few trips to different cities within the US still trying new food, visiting old friends, making new ones and exploring American wonders. In the past two years, I’ve moved from San Marcos, back to my home city, Houston, and moved again to the Texas capital, Austin. Here, I’m exploring when I can outside of work and taking advantage of all the happy hours this city has to offer.

Apart from traveling and eating, I am a big tv series fanatic (this is a HUGE understatement), a connoisseur of cheap plane tickets, a Frida Kahlo enthusiast, and a thrift shop aficionado. I hope to use Life Outside the Shell as a travel and lifestyle blog to share my pictures, stories, and tips that I have accumulated from my travels. I hope LOTS may serve as an inspiration to get out of your comfort ‘shell,’ explore the unknown and find your passion. Hope you follow along on my journey!
